What Vireses Are Going Around

Coltrane - Jazz

This saxophonist (tenor and soprano) and composer born in New York in 1926 is one of the most important musicians of jazz history, was handled during his career in the major jazz styles hard bop, free jazz and modal jazz.
The disk I present below is not the first nor the most important of his extensive discography, some 50 albums as a soloist and as many as a sideman for other artists such as trumpeter Miles Davis
and Thelonious Monk. Coltrane jazz was recorded in 1961. As a curiosity I can tell that this was the first album released on Atlantic Records. Coltrane on the plate backed by musicians such as Wynton Kelly , Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb sextet accompanying a Miles Davis .
