The band released their third LP The Boy With The Arab Strap in the year 1998 .
The album did not have a good critical, Pitchfork said it was a parody of his earlier work.
This is the darkest period , and therefore undervalued by critics, but for the fans is one of his best, with songs and melancholy melodies with an elaborate pop. Thanks to this work Belle & Sebastian became a cult band, with fans worldwide.
